Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology Program

Our Ph.D. program in Speech-Language Pathology is designed to prepare highly qualified professionals for careers in academia, research, and advanced clinical or practice settings. The program provides students with opportunities to develop specialized knowledge and advanced research skills in areas of interest. Students are encouraged to align their research interests with the expertise of Ph.D. faculty mentors. 

Note: The Ph.D. program is currently undergoing faculty review, with revisions anticipated for Fall 2027. Additional program details will be available by December 2026. 

Program Highlights

  • Credits: To earn a Ph.D., students must complete at least 60 credits, with a minimum of 30 credits at the 700-level, exclusive of 12 dissertation credits. 
  • Doctoral students must meet all requirements for admission to the Graduate School. 
  • Candidates must have their Master’s Degree in Communication Science and Disorders from an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accredited institution and have or be eligible for their Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
