Reno Family Medicine Residency
The University of Nevada, Reno Family Medicine Residency program offers residents the opportunity to excel at the full scope of family medicine, or tailor training to more specific goals to best suit our residents.
As a medical school-administered community-based program, we offer "the best of both worlds." Our parent medical school is primary-care friendly and our residents do not compete for good cases or procedures. We have medical students on our family medicine service all year, which helps transform our resident learners into teachers.
What makes us unique?
- We take 8 residents for the Reno track.
- Two family physician performs obstetrics with local obstetricians.
- Three sports-medicine-fellowship-trained family physicians serve as UNR team physicians. One of them is the past President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. They teach all the family medicine residents and sports medicine fellows musculoskeletal medicine including ultrasound and injections. Change two sports-medicine-fellowship-trained family physicians serve as UNR team physicians.
