Hospital Affiliations

Internal medicine residents at the School of Medicine perform inpatient clinical activities primarily at two sites in the Reno area, Renown Health and the Ioannis A Lougaris VA Medical Center. Their close proximity allows for easy travel between facilities (the VA and Renown are located less than a mile apart). Also, resident rotations include locations in Elko, Nevada; providing residents the opportunity to work and train in a rural Nevada community.

Renown Health

Renown Health is northern Nevada's largest not-for-profit hospital and serves as the primary inpatient training site for our residents. This facility has more than 800 beds with primary care and subspecialty doctors and more than 5,000 nurses, doctors and health care professionals.

Ioannis A. Lougaris VA Medical Center

The VA Medical Center, with its 64-medical/surgery/psych beds, serves as a major training site for our residents. An additional 60 beds in the Community Living Center provide an extended care experience. The VA uses the CPRS electronic medical record.
