Curriculum Committees

The goals of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine curriculum committees are to define, achieve, and maintain educational excellence through a coherent and coordinated medical student curriculum.

The Medical Education Steering Committee holds integrated institutional responsibility for the overall design, management and evaluation of the undergraduate medical education curriculum. It is the decision and policy making body for the overall school of medicine curriculum.

The Years 1 & 2 Block Directors' Committee and the Years 3 & 4 Clerkship and Electives Directors' Committee are responsible for curriculum delivery, student assessment, and discussion of faculty and student issues specific to the named years.

When an action concerning an individual medical student's progress is recommended by the Years 1 & 2 or Years 3 & 4 committee, the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs is responsible for taking appropriate action, and for keeping both curricular committees informed of any actions and/or status changes.

Membership in these committees represents a major educational service to the school.
