Mary Karls is the Program Manager of the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center - Nevada at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Mary is responsible for all facets of program development and management while supporting a broad range of educational needs through teaching, facilitation, and outreach at the University level, as well as the development of continuing professional education throughout the community and the State of Nevada. Additionally, she is involved in practice facilitation for HIV clinics throughout the state working closely with clinical staff to identify goals, observe existing practices, identify barriers, implement new models, and work in collaboration with clinic leadership to help facilitate successful organizational change.
Her prior experiences include extensive grant and program management in the non-profit sector where she supported community and state level programs focused on Domestic Violence prevention. In addition, Mary worked as a Health Educator with the Washoe County Chronic Disease Prevention Program where she had an active role in promoting tobacco-free initiatives and providing technical assistance around higher education campuses and community organizations adopting tobacco-free policies.
