Summary

Victoria Young is the Statewide Capacity Building Manager the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center- Nevada (PAETC-NV) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) School of Medicine. In this role, she provides a wide range of technical assistance, education, and capacity building to healthcare organizations in Clark County and around the state. She coordinates needs assessments, develops, and implements program plans. This work aims to improve the care and services provided to people living with HIV/AIDS and people who are at risk for HIV infection in Nevada.

Victoria also serves on the Nevada Public Health Association (NPHA) Conference Planning Committee, NPHA Advocacy and Policy Committee, the Nevada HIV Modernization Coalition, the Northern and Southern Nevada HIV Prevention Planning Groups, and the Ryan White Part A Capacity Building Assistance Initiative. In these roles, she provides recommendations and support to increase organizational capacity to provide services for people at risk for contracting HIV and people living with HIV

Victoria has worked as a Research Analyst and Assistant for UNR and the UNR School of Medicine for several years. Her research has encompassed maternal cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections and pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). She has also studied access to health care issues, such as physician retention in statewide and in rural counties of Nevada. She has also studied insurance utilization and rural community hospitals' patient capacity allowance. She has also performed internal audits for the UNR Graduate Medical Education Office. On a project funded by the CDC, she coordinated a statewide HIV needs assessment and drafted the Clark County and the state of Nevada plan to end HIV. Her prior experiences working as a research assistant and teaching Epidemiology for the UNR School of Community Health Sciences as a graduate assistant. She also has over ten years of experience working in physician practices across northern Nevada.

Victoria earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Science, specializing in public health and a Master of Public Health, specializing in epidemiology, from UNR. Her skills include managing data platforms, data collection, logistic and linear statistical modeling, data visualization, and data analysis using various softwares, such as SAS, SPSS, GIS, Access, and Qualtrics.
