University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is a community-based, research-intensive medical school with a statewide vision that has served Nevada for 50 years as its first public medical school. University of Nevada, Reno

The University of Nevada, Reno was established as Nevada's Land Grant Institution in 1874. The current enrollment is over 16,000 students with more than one-fourth of these students pursuing graduate degrees. UNR offers over 80 graduate and undergraduate programs through 13 colleges. Faculty with biomedical research interests are housed in the Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology departments. Graduate education in biomedical sciences is supported by three interdisciplinary programs in the Graduate School (Cell and Molecular Biology, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology, and Biomedical Engineering) and a departmental program in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas was established in 1957. The current enrollment is over 27,000 students with approximately one-fifth of these students pursuing graduate degrees. UNLV offers over 156 graduate and 220 undergraduate programs through. Faculty with biomedical research interests are housed in the Department of Chemistry and the School of Life Sciences. The College of Sciences supports over 278 graduate students with over 60 in the life sciences related fields.

Great Basin College

Great Basin College was founded in 1967 to provide post-secondary education to a rural population of 120,000 in six counties, covering 62,000 square miles of rural Nevada (i.e. over half of the area of the state). Approximately 1,750 students are served on five campuses, 16 satellite centers, and by course work delivered to remote ranching and Native American communities using interactive video and web-based learning platforms. More than one third of course sections are delivered by distance methods. The vast majority of the students are first-generation college students. In addition to offering a wide range of associate degrees, the college offers several baccalaureate programs including four with a science emphasis: Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education (Biology), Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies (Resource Management), Bachelor of Applied Science (Agriculture Management), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Truckee Meadows Community College

Truckee Meadows Community College was founded in 1979 as the fourth community college within the Nevada System of Higher Education. TMCC serves over 12,000 students with programs leading to associate degrees and certificates in more than 40 academic and occupational areas, including biomedical science and medical-related career fields such as: biology, chemistry, dental assisting, dental hygiene, dietetic technician, environmental science, nursing, nutrition, radiological technology, and veterinary technician. These programs are administered through the School of Sciences.

College of Southern Nevada

College of Southern Nevada, founded in 1971, is the largest institution in the Nevada System of Higher Education and the fourth largest institution of its kind in the country enrolling over 35,000 students. It currently operates in more than 50 locations, including three main campuses in and around Las Vegas. The college offers over 100 certificate and associate programs (including biology, chemistry, dental assisting, dental hygiene, environmental science, nursing, nutrition, ophthalmic technician, pharmacy technician, radiological technology, and veterinary technician) and one bachelor's program (dental hygienist)..

Nevada State College

Nevada State College opened in 2002 as Nevada's first four-year state college. Currently the college enrolls over 2,100 students served by over 180 faculty and staff. NSC offers over 20 bachelor's degrees across three academic schools: School of Liberal Arts & Sciences, School of Education, and School of Nursing. During the last five years the institution has focused on developing its facilities, faculty, and curriculum.

Western Nevada College
