Dr. Rebecca Papez, July 2017
Every day our community faculty illustrate their commitment to educating future physicians through their passion for teaching and examples of excellence. In earlier newsletters, community faculty spotlights were nominated by departments. Our medical students and residents also wanted the opportunity to highlight and show gratitude to their community faculty. This month, Gustave Rossi, MS3, shines a spotlight on Rebecca Papez, M.D., Carson Medical Group; Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.
"Last semester, I had the opportunity to complete a preceptorship with Dr. Papez in Carson City. The experience in her office reminded me of why I wanted to go to medical school in the first place. It was inspiring to see the strong and unique relationships Dr. Papez built with each and every one of her patients and their families. The trust and gratitude that each patient had in their doctor was evident. Dr. Papez was not only concerned in treating a child's symptoms, but in building a lasting and personal relationship with each of the families that entered her office. The care and compassion she invested in each patient reflected the passion she has for helping her local community.
Thank you, Dr. Papez, for reminding me that humanity is the core of medicine. I hope to one day build the same trust and relationships that you have worked so hard to achieve with your patients."
In appreciation for her efforts, Dr. Papez and her guest will receive free tickets to a UNR home football game. Thank you again, Dr. Papez, for your support of our students. You are making a difference!
