Each day our community faculty illustrate their commitment to educating future physicians through their passion for teaching and examples of excellence. This month, Nicholas Wesely, MS2, shines a spotlight on C. Brian Sonderegger, M.D., Carson Tahoe Medical Group.

My time spent with Dr. Sonderegger has been nothing short of eye opening. Starting from the first time I was in clinic with him, I was seeing patients alone, discussing disease pathology, and coming up with treatment plans together. Each day, I would see patients independently to gather a succinct history and physical. I would then present these patients to Dr. Sonderegger as my attending to gain a firm understanding of how to present a patient. We would then discuss clinical medicine pertinent to that patient and go into the patient's room together to further examine and complete the patient's visit. Working with Dr. Sonderegger has without a doubt been one of the best clinical experiences I have had thus far in my medical career. His willingness to teach, explain, and guide is inspiring and are qualities I hope to have one day when I hold the role of teacher. I aspire to have the attitude and passion of Dr. Sonderegger and am proud to have spent part of my medical education under his guidance.
