Do I need to make an appointment to be seen?
Please call for a same day appointment.
Is parking available at the Student Health Center?
There is parking, and a pass will be provided for the time of your visit.
Medical
Are your doctors “real doctors” or medical students?
All of our providers are board certified physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants. We do not have medical students providing care
Does SHC provide immunizations and medications needed for travel?
We are able to provide some travel immunizations. Specialty immunizations may need to be acquired elsewhere.
Will my visit be confidential?
Your medical information is private and protected by HIPAA. Information will not be released without authorization from the patient.
What type of birth control is offered at SHC?
We offer a variety of contraception options. Call to schedule a same day appointment with a provider at the SHC to discuss options. We do not place IUDs or implantable devices.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
We do not prescribe stimulant medication.
Do you treat sexually transmitted infections?
We offer testing and treatment for STIs.
Can I get a pregnancy test?
We do offer pregnancy tests.
Where can I get condoms?
Complimentary condoms are available to students in the waiting room and individual exam rooms. Latex Free condoms are available on request.
If I currently have a prescription, can I get it refilled at the clinic?
Most previously prescribed medications can be refilled with an appointment.
Can I start Prep at SHC?
We do offer Prep. Call to schedule an appointment.
Billing
Is everything free?
Some additional services, like lab, X-ray, immunizations, and specialty visits, may have a nominal fee.
How do I pay for additional services?
Charges can be paid at the SHC or cashier’s office by check, cash, credit/debit card, or wolf bucks.
Does SHC accept insurance?
The Student Health Center does not bill Health Insurance, with the exception of the plan offered by the University for graduate, medical and international students.
Other
I missed class because I am sick, can you write me a note to excuse my absence?
Notes are not provided for missed classes. Please review the University class absence policy.
Does SHC provide dental and vision care?
Dental and vision services are not available at the SHC.
