PA school is a significant financial investment for students and their families. It is important that you be prepared to take on the responsibility to meet financial obligations while attending and after you graduate PA school. The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine's Financial Aid department can educate, inform and assist you in financial planning and managing student debt. You are encouraged to read all the information provided and contact Rubina Hackbusch, Manager of Student Affairs, Physician Assistant Studies Program if you have additional questions.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine works with the University of Nevada, Reno's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships on providing scholarship and financial assistance. A FAFSA must be filled out in order to receive assistance. Financial aid is any source of funds available to assist students in paying for the costs of a college education. If you think you will need assistance beyond your own financial resources, you are encouraged to apply for financial aid. Whatever your situation, you can be sure that you will be treated fairly and equitably with respect to students in similar financial circumstances as your own.

Most financial aid is based on demonstrated financial need and requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal and state grants, loans, and work-study are all need-based programs.

Please note that due to changes in federal regulations, the Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is not allowed to offer recommendations on any lending program. However, we recognize that students need resources for such types of loans. We provided the links below to independent websites that offer a current listing of all private alternative loans. Students are encouraged to use the resources on that site to research terms and criteria for various loan programs and make an informed choice.


Nevada Health Service Corps - Nevada State Office of Rural Health

The Nevada Health Service Corps (NHSC), established in 1989, was created to designate areas of underservice within the State and match practitioners to those areas of need. Rural communities in Nevada are particularly lacking in health resources and support. To encourage a practitioner to practice and serve underrepresented communities in Nevada, health professionals may enter the NHSC by engaging in full-time clinical practice in an assigned community in exchange for loan repayment funds.

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) awards scholarships and loan repayment to primary care providers in eligible disciplines.
