Welcome to the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. We are committed to excellence in both education and patient care, and are happy that you chose to make northern Nevada your home for Graduate Medical Education. We will strive to provide you with an organized educational program with guidance and supervision in a professional and compassionate work environment. Our commitment as a sponsoring institution is to provide leadership and resources necessary for each of our programs to meet and exceed the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements.

This policy and procedure handbook has been prepared as a guide and reference for all residents and fellows. The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is beholden to the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education; as such, no policy and procedure stated in this handbook is intended to supersede the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (BOR) Statement Codification on Policy Statements on Resident Physicians, and Post Doctoral Fellows.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Office of Graduate Medical Education will review these policies annually, and amend and update them as needed. All residents and fellows are expected to become familiar with and comply with the policies set forth in this handbook as they have been put into place to assure all residents are working in a fair and equitable environment. Please use it as a reference source along with any additional information provided to you by your individual program directors.

Please note, that this handbook is neither a contract of employment nor a guarantee of future training. Formal agreements of any kind are recognized only when they are in writing and signed by a designated University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine official.
