Preceptor Conflict of Interest
With the exception of a life or death emergency, at no time can a student be supervised (including providing formative and summative assessment) by a relative. The term "relative" is defined by state statute and University policy as any person who is within the third degree of consanguinity or affinity. Consanguinity is a blood relationship within a family of the same descent. Affinity is a marriage or other legal relationship (such as adoption) formally recognized by the State of Nevada. Relationships within the third degree of consanguinity or affinity are defined as:
- Spouse, child, parent, sibling, half-sibling, or step-relatives in the same relationship
- The spouse of a child, parent, sibling, half-sibling, or step-relative
- In-laws, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandparent, grandchild or first cousin.
