Maximum Number of Years to Complete the M.D. Degree
UNR Med medical students must complete all medical school degree requirements within six academic years from the date of their initial matriculation to the UNR Med as outlined in the Academic Progress & Promotion Policy. Students failing to complete the requirements for the MD Degree within six academic years will be dismissed.
The only allowable extensions are either activated military service for the period of the active duty or enrollment in a dual degree program (i.e., MPH, MBA, PhD). Students submit extension requests to the Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs. The Student Promotion and Conduct Committee(SPCC) reviews extension request for consideration of approval.
Reentry requirements will apply for some students as needed who deviate from the traditional four-year medical education program. This includes activities such as research, dual degree, and academic difficulties. Students must undergo a clinical skills assessment prior to reentering the clinical environment. The Re-Entry Program is coordinated though the Office of Medical Education.
