Application Strategies
Important
- Submit all application materials and letters of recommendation on the day ERAS opens.
- Many programs offer interviews within 2 weeks of opening of ERAS. This gives the applicant an opportunity better construct their interview schedule.
Research
- Research is desirable but not required.
- Be prepared to talk about your research during an interview.
Personal Statement
- Experiences that have informed your decision
- Dedication to lifelong learning and commitment to the specialty
- What you plan to do with your training?
Letters of Recommendation
- Three (3) letters are required.
- Two letters should be from within the specialty, preferably from an academic rotation.
- Internal Medicine or Surgery is an option for a 3rd letter.
- Make sure letter writers can speak to your clinical skills.

- Programs begin reviewing applicants in September
- Programs begin offering Interviews in October
