Post-Baccalaureate Pathway Program

About the Post-Bac

The Post-Baccalaureate (Post-Bac) Pathway Program is a supportive, one-year academic program for students seeking admission to the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med). Our program provides a structured, on campus curriculum for individuals who have encountered prior academic challenges to further develop and demonstrate academic readiness for medical school. Post-Bac students complete 30-34 credits of upper-division coursework at the University of Nevada, Reno to fill in any gaps in their science education, and to support their preparation for medical school and success on standardized exams, including an intensive MCAT preparatory course. The program also includes regular check-ins with a learning specialist to help set and achieve professional development goals that support success as future UNR medical students.

UNR Med has been an invaluable source of support throughout my journey, beginning in my post-baccalaureate year and continuing into medical school. I have been fortunate to learn from an exceptional faculty and support team, whose dedication has greatly influenced my transition into this next chapter. The abundance of workshops, resources and tools has been remarkable, particularly the emphasis on mental wellness and holistic student health. Moreover, the mentorship from upperclassmen has been incredibly impactful, offering guidance and wisdom that has truly shaped my experience.
