Undergraduate students have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research training that fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry and hands-on experience with researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med). Students can collaborate with leading faculty in a variety of fields, including biomedical sciences, immunology, pharmacology and more.

Through this research training, students gain valuable exposure to the scientific process, from hypothesis development to data collection and analysis. This experience provides a strong foundation for those interested in pursuing careers in medicine, research or related fields.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

UROP is the flagship undergraduate research program conducted by the Nevada IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) at the University of Nevada, Reno. This ten-week summer program provides junior and senior level students with opportunities to conduct independent biomedical research projects in their chosen areas of study.

Microbiology and Immunology undergraduate research opportunities

The Microbiology and Immunology Undergraduate Program at the University of Nevada, Reno offers hands-on research opportunities for students, providing a chance to contribute to life-saving research while gaining valuable skills. Accepted students will work directly with principal investigators (PI) in our labs, developing expertise in problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking and resource management. Undergraduate students in the microbiology and immunology, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or other biomedical-related fields are encouraged to apply and gain practical experience in cutting-edge research.
