Student organizations at the University of Nevada, Reno are a vital part of our community, offering students the chance to connect with peers, build leadership skills and explore their interests outside the classroom. These groups, spanning a wide range of academic, cultural and service-focused missions, help shape well-rounded, compassionate health care professionals prepared to serve diverse populations and lead with empathy and cultural awareness.
Student organizations
How can students get involved?
M.D. students
For M.D. students, student organizations offer opportunities to engage in hands-on projects, network with health care professionals, and explore specialized interests in medicine. Through these experiences, our students grow into compassionate physicians who are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities.
Physician Assistant students
For Physician Assistant (PA) students, student organizations foster a sense of community and collaboration, offering opportunities to gain leadership experience, participate in professional development activities, and connect with peers who share their commitment to patient care.
Support for M.D. student travel
UNR Med encourages M.D. students to broaden their medical education by actively engaging in student government, organizations, interest groups and other career-building opportunities. We support these professional development pursuits by funding travel within Nevada and out-of-state, enabling students to attend conferences, seminars and workshops. Through these opportunities, M.D. students gain valuable experiences and insights, preparing them to excel as future health care leaders.
