Graduate students at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) have the opportunity to participate in a number of research opportunities led by award-winning physicians and investigators. Our research programs offer advanced training for students who want to expand their knowledge and accelerate their careers in a variety of sub-specialties. Graduate students will participate in every aspect of the scientific process including conducting initial research, writing grants, presenting results and more.

Combined M.D. Programs

The M.D./Ph.D. program is designed to train highly motivated students for careers as biomedical scientists in clinical and translational research. This combined degree programs allows students to acquire dual expertise in biomedical research and clinical medicine aimed at preventing and treating human disease. Interdisciplinary tracks include cell and molecular biology, integrative neuroscience and more.

Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Programs

The Speech-Language Pathology graduate programs prepare students for careers as Speech-Language Pathologists in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and community clinics. Students will train under talented faculty in both academic and clinical settings. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects in a variety of topics including neurogenic research, autism and more.

Molecular Biosciences Interdisciplinary Graduate Program

The Molecular Biosciences Program is a comprehensive collaboration between UNR Med, the College of Science and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. Offering more than 30 areas of research such as immunology, neuroscience and stem cell biology, students have access to talented faculty with a broad range of expertise across biological and biomedical sciences.

Electrical and Biomedical Engineering Program

The Electrical and Biomedical Engineering program conducts cutting-edge research and training to help students become leaders in the field. The program’s focal areas include biosensor research and electromagnetics and imaging research. With a flexible and interdisciplinary degree program, students will develop ideas, techniques and technologies to change the world.
