Transgenic Animal Genotyping and Phenotyping Core

The Transgenic Animal Genotyping and Phenotyping Core (Core B) provides centralized services, consultation, training and technical support to advance transgenic animal genotyping and cardiovascular, metabolic and behavioral phenotyping research. By offering a range of techniques – including continuous blood pressure and heart rate monitoring, surface ECG, echocardiography, in vivo calcium imaging, metabolic assessment and behavioral testing – Core B supports the success of cardiovascular and metabolic research and the development of novel therapies. This shared resource collaborates with investigators to ensure access to critical tools and expertise that drive discovery.

Services

Core B provides comprehensive services to support cardiovascular, metabolic, behavioral and transgenic animal research. Below is a list of available techniques and resources:

  • Breeding, genotyping and managing colonies of genetically modified mice to perform genotyping and data analysis of tail or ear biopsy samples.
  • Monitor and record hemodynamic parameters including radio telemetry blood pressure, heart rate and ECG monitoring in up to 48 conscious, unrestrained mice.
  • Capture synchronized metabolic and behavioral information via the Sable Promethion Metabolic Cage System.
  • Novel object recognition and Y-maze analysis for animal behavior.
  • High-precision analysis and determination of fat mass, lean mass, free-water mass and total-body-water mass using the EchoMRI system.
  • Digital droplet PCR for nucleic acid detection, absolute quantification, and resolving allelic or structural variants.

Equipment

  • Digital Droplet PCR
