Curriculum
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship provides comprehensive clinical and academic training that is developmentally focused and designed to provide a balance of biological and psychosocial interventions. Clinical rotations focus on developing the skills needed to become a child and adolescent fellow according to ACGME accreditation requirements. The fellowship structure is designed to provide continuity training in outpatient psychotherapy and psychiatric medication clinics that span both years of training with other inpatient, consultation and specialty learning opportunities during the first and second years.
As a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow, you will spend two years focusing on the foundations of development, psychopathology and neuroscience, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. This fellowship will include a variety of didactic seminars that are integrated with the general psychiatry residency and focus on patient safety, diversity, equity, inclusion and other specific topics.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship has been a cornerstone of providing high quality training and evidence-based care to the Northern Nevada community. As the field advances, the fellowship at UNR Med aims to train fellows in models of care that are current and evidence-based. You will have the chance to participate in different models of care including Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) clinics such as First Episode Psychosis, Project ECHO Nevada, school district and juvenile forensic consultation, collaborative-care and interdisciplinary neurodevelopmental assessments.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is seeking fellows who are interested in working with underserved individuals and families in Northern Nevada. Our training program focuses on providing comprehensive experiences in evidence-based treatments that balance both biological and psychosocial interventions.
