Global Health Policy and Advocacy Scholarly Concentration
The Scholarly Concentration in Health Policy and Advocacy at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) offers students an opportunity to deeply engage in health care policy, legislation and advocacy. With the evolving health care landscape, this program equips students with the tools to understand health disparities, particularly in underserved areas, and to actively participate in shaping health policy. Students will develop advocacy skills applicable at local, state and national levels, positioning them to impact public health through legislative and community engagement.

- Advocacy skills across clinical and policy settings
- Nevada’s healthcare challenges, particularly in rural areas
- Engaging in policymaking and health advocacy
- Networking and building collaborative relationships with health policy professionals
- Crafting policy resolutions and effective advocacy documents
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in key advocacy events, including Physicians' Day at the Nevada Legislature, and present resolutions at conferences such as the Nevada State Medical Association's annual meeting.
