School-Based Metal Health

Cohort Series | Offered Bi-Annually | 6-sessions | Wednesdays | 4-5:15 PM Pacific Time

Our aim is to create a school based mental health ECHO aimed at improving our audiences’ understanding of and enthusiasm for providing, communicating, and delivering school based mental health. This series will assist school based professionals in Nevada with school based health needs of students, including mental health. The planned curriculum will include an overview of mental health care devliery models, screening procedures, consent, and team formation/data sharing. We will be using case-based learning as the main part of this ECHO program and invite participants with an opportunity to discuss strategies and tools to support students' health.

Our Team

  • Tracy Fisher, BS, MEd. Tracy currently works as an MTSS Coach at the Office for a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment at the University of Nevada, Reno.
  • Ashley Greenwald, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA. Dr. Ashley Greenwald is a Licensed Behavior Analyst and an Associate Research Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is the Project Director and Principal Investigator of the Nevada Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Technical Assistance Center, located within the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities.
  • Elizabeth Powell, RN. Elizabeth acts as the nurse liaison for district nurses in the state of Nevada regarding Medicaid accessibility. She is excited to utilize her nursing and educational expertise to aid ECHO. She previously worked as a Health Service Nurse for Chicago Public Schools and a nurse educator at Purdue University.
  • Erika Ryst, M.D. (Psychiatry): Dr. Erika Ryst is a Board-Certified Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who completed her general and child psychiatry residency training at the Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital and Mclean Hospital Program in Boston, MA. In 2015, Dr. Ryst joined the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities in the UNR College of Education to further her work in the field of school psychiatry and developmental disabilities. 
  • Dana Walburn, LCSW. Dana currently works with the Nevada Department of Education Office of Safe and Respectful Learning Environments.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Accreditation

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine approves this program for 1.0 hours of nursing continuing education credit.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is a provider of continuing education credit through the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.  This program is approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit for pharmacists.

The State of Nevada Board of Education designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 credit hours for educators.

The Nevada State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 credit hours for physical therapists.

The State of Nevada Speech – Language Pathology, Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensing Board designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 credit hours for Speech Pathologist, Audiologists, and Hearing Aid Technicians.

The Nevada State Board of Occupational Therapy designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 credit hours for Occupational Therapists.
