Summary
Agarwal lab focuses on understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure. The autonomic nervous system, which controls cardiac contractility by regulating ion channel activities, is compromised in these cardiac diseases. Currently, we are studying how the intracellular architecture of cardiac myocytes contributes to the modulation of the subcellular signaling pathways by the autonomic nervous system. Our goal is to identify new avenues for the development of therapeutic strategies to restore normal cardiac function in disease states.
