Associate Professor, Physiology and Cell Biology

Summary

My broad research background is rooted in bioinformatics and computational biology. I have long standing interest in translational bioinformatics and computational RNA biology, including:

  • Developing and utilizing appropriate computational tools or bioinformatics software to analyze high-throughput omics data, which have numerous implications not only for understanding basic biology but also for improving molecular medicine.
  • Investigating noncanonical small noncoding RNAs, including tRNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) and rRNA-derived small RNAs (rsRNAs), which are under investigated but involved in various biological processes.
  • Understanding environmental stressor or diet-induced “RNA code”, which contributes to epigenetic inheritance and potentially serves as information carrier for inter/transgenerational transmission of metabolic disorder.
