Summary
We are interested in how cells communicate with their surroundings and adhere to neighboring cells through specialized surface molecules. Our research focuses on understanding cell adhesion mechanisms that regulate immune responses in both inflammation and cancer. A key focus is on integrins—transmembrane receptors critical for mediating cell–cell and cell–extracellular matrix adhesion. We study two main areas: the neutrophil adhesion cascade to the endothelium during inflammation, and the engineering of immune cells for cancer immunotherapy.
