Salary Schedule

UNR Med deeply values our residents’ commitment by offering competitive salary and benefits packages. With no state income tax, Nevada residents can expect to receive a higher net salary compared to resident programs in other states.

Handbook

The Resident Handbook outlines the policies and procedures of the residency program. Residents are expected to comply with these policies to ensure that all residents are working in a fair, supportive and equitable environment.

Application and Interview Process

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Residency Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and accepts three residents per year into its four‑year training program.

Application Process

Applications are accepted exclusively through ResidencyCAS.

Additional requirements:

  • The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants must register with NRMP to be considered.
  • USMLE scores are reviewed holistically. Step 2 CK must be received by February 1, 2027.
    • No minimum score is required.
    • Average scores of OB/GYN Residents:
      • Step 1: ~240
      • Step 2 CK: ~250
  • Applicants must submit a minimum of three letters of recommendation through ResidencyCAS, in addition to the Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE)
  • Applications must be submitted by September 17th, 2026 in order to be considered.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

The UNR Med OB/GYN Residency Program welcomes applications from international medical graduates.

Key considerations for IMG applicants:

  • J‑1 visas are accepted (subject to institutional policy and program approval).
  • No minimum USMLE score is required.
  • Two months of U.S. clinical experience is required.
  • There is no minimum time since medical school graduation; however, per institutional policy, applicants must not be more than five years from graduation.

Resident Eligibility & Selection

Our selection process complies with ACGME General Requirements and UNR Med’s Equal Employment Opportunity policies.

 A faculty review committee evaluates each application based on:

  • Academic performance and aptitude
  • Professionalism, motivation, and integrity
  • Letters of recommendation and personal attributes

Interview Process

Applicants selected for interviews will be notified via email on October 27th, 2026, and provided with a choice of available interview dates.

In alignment with recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG), UNR Med’s OB/GYN Residency Program will conduct all interviews virtually for the entire recruitment cycle. Interviews will begin after November 1st, 2026.
