- Some research/scholarly work is helpful for academic/larger University programs.
Personal Statement
- Focus on a description of yourself outside ow what is on your CV.
- Emphasize outside activities reflective of a commitment to community health issues if applicable.
- Explain gaps in training or other 'red-flags.'
Letters of Recommendation
- Three (3) letters are recommended with two from within the specialty.
- Letters from community-based physicians and/or research are OK for a fourth letter.
- A chair’s letter is generally not required.
- Applicants should ask any physician with a good sense of the applicant’s strengths and personal knowledge.
Application Timing
- Programs begin reviewing applicants in mid-September.
- Programs begin offering interviews October 1.
